Personal Property
Your assessor does not set your property tax.  Your bill is determined by multiplying a tax rate against your assessed value (60% of market value).  Remember, the Assessor determines the assessed value and the levy rate is determined by the legislature (for the Board of Education), the County Commission and the municipalities.   Click here for the current levy rates.

As a resident of Raleigh County, you are required by law to file an annual Personal Property Assessment based on personal property owned on July 1st of each year.  A pre-printed assessment form is mailed every July by our office, provided you have filed your assessment form the previous year.  If you do not receive the form in the mail, you should contact our office immediately at 304-255-9178 or click here and print a copy from your computer to mail to us.
